The Female's dared to challenge the Male image of Blues singers. They were bold, strong, and assertive enough to withstand racism and male sexism. Their talent was so good that the Whites couldn't avoid it. It was "blue," it was uplifting! From the late 1800's to today's music tells the story of our history. Music stands the test of time and outlives the performer and us as well.

Williemon plays Blues from 1901 to today to highlight the "Guitar" and how it's the integral part of the Blues instrumentation. The Guitar sets the mood and expresses what the words say or do not say. Blues is feeling, truth, unbridled emotion in a musical framework that doesn't deviate from song to sing. It's all about deliverance and personal experiences ,expression, and talent. It's in your face and like Buddy Guy, (living legend) sings, "Blues Don't Lie."

Williemon plays over 25 minutes of Hip-hop music that focuses on Dr Martin Luther King Jr. King wasn't alive when Hip-hop was on the air waves. The truth and reality in the lyrics would have been accepted but, the derogatory language (as a Minister) he would've cringed about! Blacks started urging their misery and pain, after Martin was assassinated, through song and beats. The rhythms became intoxicating and made you Bob your head and dance. All in all no matter which way you cut it this was one of the greatest human beings ever!

Monday Jan 12, 2026

Williemon starts off Unity Week with Reggae about Dr MLK Jr. Dr King is recognized all over the world and revered for dying for the betterment of the Black Race in America. Always fighting for all people no matter the color, religion, or culture! He fought against the powers that couldn't allow freedom for slaves. And wouldn't give them equalities that the white race had until this great Pastor spoke up, stood up, was jailed, sprayed with powerful hoses, spit at, cussed and treated like dirt. He lives in our hearts and minds. Killing his physical body won't stop the legacy and path to freedom he left!
