Mento Music is the original music of Jamaica., with chanting, African drum beats, banjo, and hand drum was the beginning, soon gravitating to Reggae, Ska, or Calypso. This folk style genre is a fusion of sexual innuendo, food, and simple thematic progression. The 40's and 50's was the start of this sound that even the likes of Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Gregory Isaac's, all were raised with this sound and style.
